Senior Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar faced the wrath of Gujarat Assembly Speaker Ganpat Vasava today, for using "derogatory" and "unparliamentary" language concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state Chief Minister Anandiben Patel during his speech in the Assembly.

During his speech on the last day of discussion on the state budget, Parmar came prepared with various figures to grill Gujarat state finance minister Saurabh Patel.

In the middle of his speech, Parmar slammed BJP MLAs and ministers for their earlier remarks about Congress chief Sonia Gandhi where she was termed as an "outsider".

Parmar said that people must stop doubting Sonia Gandhi's dedication and integrity.

"Sonia Gandhi married Rajiv Gandhi as per Hindu rituals. Even after her husband was killed, she stayed back here and never went back. She fulfilled all her duties and responsibilities as a dedicated wife. According to Hindu religion, husband and wife should always live together," Parmar said.

However, Parmar then made a veiled attack on Modi and Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel, which did not go well with Speaker Ganpat Vasava, who took strong objection to his comments.

Vasava announced in the House that he has expunged those remarks from the record of the House.

He then warned Parmar to refrain from using such "derogatory" and "unparliamentary" language in the House.

Vasava also asked Parmar to be more responsible and warned of action against him if he ever used such language against anyone in the House.
