East Godavari district collector H Arun Kumar said here today that a separate cell would be set up for Andhra Pradesh's fishermen, in view of the recent deaths of fishermen at sea.
Kumar who met officials from departments like agriculture, irrigation and fisheries said that the AP government plans to set up a separate cell to protect fishermen who venture into the sea.
A separate cell will be set up to monitor 28 points in the district and keep tabs on fishermen venturing into the sea or returning, he said.

"The cell will set up a global positioning system (GPS) based tracking system, with help from the fisheries department and the marine police. Every fishing boat will be connected to a GPS tracking system," he said.
This would provide information about the boat or whether it faced any problem at sea, so that quick action can be taken to save fishermen, he said.
