Special children have a date with Coast Guard ship

A visit onboard Indian Coast Guard Ship Varuna and Abhinav was organised by Indian Coast Guard for Special School children at Kochi today as a run up to the 39th raising day on February 1.

About 50 students and 02 teachers from "Snehalayam", Kakkanad were taken onboard Indian Coast Guard ship Varuna and were given an opportunity to interact with officers and men, according to a release here.

"They were also shown various equipment fitted onboard ship.

The children expressed awe and interest in all the demonstrations provided to them," it said. A magic show was also organized to make the visit even more interesting for the special guests.
 

The event was organised by the Coast Guard District Headquarters No 4.

Mohita Pathak, President Tatrakshika Coast Guard (Kerala and Mahe) along with the members of Coast Guard Wives Welfare association (CGWWA) were also present to join in this social cause.

School children from special school and personnel from Indian Coast Guard actively participated in the event. The Indian Coast Guard engages in a variety of community and social activities from time to time to reaffirm its social responsibility, the release added.
