: The Kerala government Wednesday decided to set up a special court for trying cases relating to sexual offences against children.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Thirteen posts, including that of district judge, would be created for the court, being exculusively set up for trial of cases coming under the POCSO (Protection of children from sexual offences) act.

The cabinet also decided to grant special sanction for the transfer of the case relating to the abduction and sexual assault of a Malayalam actress to this special court.

The actress was attacked on February 17, 2017 while she was returning from work.

The Kerala High Court had last year dismissed a plea by Malayalam actor Dileep and an accused in the case, demanding a CBI probe into the case.
