A special court here rejected the anticipatory bail plea of dismissed IAS officer Arvind Joshi in a disproportionate assets (DA) case in 2010.

The anticipatory bail plea of Joshi was rejected yesterday as he failed to appear in the court even once after filing of charge sheet against him and issuance of arrest warrant.

Income tax department had unearthed huge amount of unaccounted cash and other assets during a raid at the residence of Arvind Joshi and his wife, Tinoo Joshi, also a former IAS officer, in 2010.

In view of the seriousness of the case, he can't be given benefit of bail, the court ruled.

Following issuance of arrest warrant and Joshi evading arrest, Lokayukta Police had also issued Lookout notices against him and Tinoo Joshi.

Both of them were terminated from services after cases were registered against them and on the basis of recommendation of an inquiry committee.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court on October 31 rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Tinoo Joshi on similar grounds.
