A special medical camp was held at Army's Gajaraj corps here where families of troops and Veer Naris (wives of martyr soldiers) underwent medical check up and tests during the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) week.

Nearly 400 families of the troops were benefited by the medical check up conducted during the AWWA week concluding yesterday, said a defence spokesman today.

Various other activities were also organised on the occasion, including special motivational talks, lectures and debates for the families to create awareness about contemporary issues and women's rights, the spokesman said.

The AWWA week celebrated across Gajaraj corps also felicitated 36 Veer Naris from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh by the Association's Zonal President Bindu Sarath Chand providing financial assistance as well as guidance for various social benefit schemes offered by the state and central governments.
