Delhi Government today announced appointment of a special officer to supervise implementation of the Majithia Wage Board recommendations for journalists and other employees of print news organisations.

The decision was taken following the meeting of a delegation of the Majithia Wage Board Implementation Sangharsh Samiti with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia at the Delhi secretariat today.

The Chief Minister has directed the department of labour to submit a report on the status of implementation of the recommendations, which would be beneficial to thousands of employees working in different news organisations.

Kejriwal also directed labour department to immediately set up a monitoring committee for regular supervision of the wage board implementation.

The CM assured the delegation that he would consider their demand that Delhi Government intervene in their ongoing case in the Supreme Court.

"The government is committed to effective implementation of labour laws in the national capital and will adopt a policy of zero tolerance against organisations which are harming the interests of employees," Kejriwal said in a press statement.
