The Uttar Pradesh government would "seriously" consider setting up of a specially-trained battalion of PAC on the lines of CISF for fool-proof security of metro rail project operational in the state.
"During a high-level meeting chaired by Principal Secretary (Home) Debashish Panda it was decided that the government would seriously consider setting up a specially trained battalion of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) for the metro rail project operational in UP," IG (Public Grievances) A Mutha Jain said.
Other than metro rail projects, the special force would also provide security to important establishments like power projects, big hospitals and important bridges, he said, adding such initiative has been taken up in Andhra Pradesh.
IG PAC Shripad Shiradkar has been directed to prepare a detailed plan in this regard and submit it in two weeks, Jain said.
