BJP chief Amit Shah today said those opposing the special package to Bihar were against its development and claimed that it would usher in large scale development in the state and make it self reliant.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a special package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore besides Rs 40,000 crore rupees for already running schemes.

The BJP chief welcomed the announcement of special package and criticised those opposing the package saying it was unfortunate because they are also opposing development of Bihar.

"But the political parties, especially JD(U) and RJD obsessed from party politics mentality, are inexplicably opposing this package for political gains. They are not only opposing the package but also the development of Bihar and it is unfortunate," Shah said in a statement.

He said there is a huge possibility of development in Bihar and there is unlimited potential in people of the state.

Shah said that the central government led by Modi is committed to ensure that all the resources should be made available to all the eastern states of India including Bihar so that the inclusive development becomes possible.

"The Prime Minister has granted a comprehensive economic package to establish Bihar in the list of developing states so that it could become a self-reliant state," Shah said.

The BJP president also said that in this package approved by the Centre, special attention has been given to the people of Bihar and their basic needs -- power, roads and water.

The priority areas are roads, railways, airways, waterways and digital connectivity for the development of Bihar in this package.
