Special prayers in Nagaland usher in New Year

Nagaland ushered in the New Year with joy and hopes for a brighter future for the state with people holding special prayer services in churches at the stroke of midnight last night.

People were seen moving around last evening attending last Church service of the past year as bursting of crackers and fireworks continued till midnight ushering in the New Year.

Special New Year services were held in churches today where believers converged for special mass seeking God's blessing for a successful 2015 while also offering thanksgiving prayer for the bygone year that was by and large peaceful in the state.
 

The previous year ended with the death of three carol singers run over by a speeding vehicle in Dimapur and drowning of three teenagers at Sanctuary Fall of the picturesque Dzukou valley in Khonoma under Kohima district.

Governor P B Acharya extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state for a happy and prosperous New Year.

"As we step into the New Year, may the Almighty God bless

Us abundantly throughout the journey of life with new visions and thoughts. May the days ahead bring good luck and happiness to the people and society," the Governor said.
