A two-day special session of Uttarakhand Assembly to be convened on July 4-5 was deferred today in view of heavy rains in parts of the state which have claimed 15 lives.
The session will now be held on July 21-22.
The decision was taken by the state cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Harish Rawat as rescue operations in the wake of cloudbursts in Pithoragarh and flashfloods in Chamoli are still underway, an official said.
The two-day session of the state Assembly is being convened to reintroduce and pass the state's budget which had hit a roadblock as political crisis had erupted in the House on March 18 with a majority of members, including BJP legislators and Congress rebels, joining hands to demand a division of votes on the Appropriation bill.
