A 25-year-old man was killed today after the two-wheeler he was riding was fatally hit by a speeding luxury car on arterial Anna Salai here, police said.

The mishap occurred when two businessmen, Mohammed Shafeeq and Mohammed Farooq, were heading towards Guindy on Anna Salai, in their car at break-neck speed, police said.

Shafeeq, who was driving the car, was allegedly in an inebriated state and rammed the vehicle into the two-wheeler killing the rider Kevin Raj on the spot, they said.

In the impact, the motorcycle and its rider were flung about 30-feet in the air. The two-wheeler was smashed to pieces. Subsequently, the car hit another vehicle before coming to a halt.

The stretch near TVS point on Anna Salai, where the car was proceeding, was a no-entry area, where vehicles are barred from going towards Guindy, police said.

A case has been registered and Shafeeq has been arrested, while the other occupant has been detained for questioning, police said.
