Three farmers were killed and two others injured after a speeding pick-up van ran over them on Safipur-Miyaganj road here, police said today.
The farmers were on their way to agriculture fields last night when the van hit them near village Nai Basti area, they said.
The deceased have been identified as Moolchand (38), Rahul (22) and Matru (30).
The driver fled after the accident, police said, adding the injured have been admitted to a hospital.
Meanwhile, locals staged a dharna on the road after the accident disrupting vehicluar traffic.
