Budget carrier SpiceJet today introduced four new services for travellers, albeit for a price, weeks after aviation regulator DGCA gave a free hand to domestic carriers to charge for extra services such as choice seat and extra baggage among others.
The move would help the Gurgaon-based airline to increase its ancillary revenue by a significant extent.
SpiceJet Assist is a service that provides assistance to passengers at the airport for both departure and arrival and comes at an introductory fee of Rs 500 per passenger per sector, the airline said in a statement.

Coming at a cost of Rs 100 per bag, bag-out-first ensures the customer's baggage is brought out first on the baggage claim belt along with other priority-tagged bags.
Spice Assurance, at a price of Rs 35 per flight, gives passengers additional peace of mind by compensating them for baggage loss, flight delays and cancellations beyond the usual compensation amounts, the statement said.
Spice Assist, Priority Check-in, and Spice Assurance must be bought at least two hours prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight while Bag-out-first can be bought in advance, or at the time of check-in.
The DGCA had on April 14 allowed the carriers to charge more for availing facilities such as preferred seats and use of lounges among others.
