Budget carrier SpiceJet has said it will enhance air connectivity to Thai capital Bangkok with a new direct flight from Chennai next month.

The airline already operates a daily non-stop service to Bangkok from Kolkata, which it had started last year.

Also, this is the third international flight announced by the Gurgaon-based no frills airline in the last one month.

"It gives us immense pleasure to announce our second international flight to Bangkok. Our first Bangkok flight started from Kolkata last year and had an excellent market response," SpiceJet's Senior VP and Head of Sales and Distribution Shilpa Bhatia said.

"We strongly believe that there is tremendous potential in the southern markets too and this flight will help us to connect passengers from rest of India to Bangkok via Chennai," she said.

The new six times-a-week service on the route will commence from December 10 with a Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft, the airline said.

Earlier, last month SpiceJet announced the launch of two direct flights to Dubai - one each from Amritsar and Kozhikode - from 15 of this month.

The Gurgaon-based budget carrier operates 291 daily flights to 40 destinations, including 34 domestic and six international.
