Spl arrangements soon for French nationals to lodge complaints

Puducherry police will soon make special arrangements exclusively for French nationals residing in the Union Territory to lodge complaints and seek redressal.

A decision was takenin this regard during a meeting Lt Governor Kiran Bedi had with French nationals residing in Puducherry at Raj Nivas here today.

A release from the Lt Governor's office said the meeting was attended by a batch of sixty French nationals and discussions were held on matters relating to their security, promotion of educational opportunities for French students intending to pursue higher education in Puducherry.

Bedi chaired the meeting which was attended among others by the French Consul General in Puducherry Catherine Suard and Director General of Police S K Gautam.
 

The release said that this was the first time that such a meeting with French nationals was held in office of Lt Governor to discuss various issues concerning them.

The Lt Governor suggested that a 'WhatsApp group' be created with the French Consul General as its administrator for continued dialogue and sharing of information.

A plea was made by the French nationals that a special police station be addressed to address their complaints.

The release said that this special arrangement would go on stream soon.

Special arrangements would be made to handle complaints of French nationals and the list of French-speaking police officers would be released soon, it said.

The District Collector pointed out that French nationals facing problems like property or land-grabbing could approach his office.
