Spl police teams to check drug sale during holiday season

At least 50 police teams headed by ACP-rank officials have been set up to keep an eye on drug racket during the holiday season, police said today.

Proper arrangements have been taken by the district administration to avoid any untoward incidents.

During New Year eve, the chances of drug sale in Gurgaon increases, especially during farm houses hosting rave parties in the shade of new year celebrations, police said.

One such alleged rave party was busted last year in Mewat district during joint operation of Gurgaon police and the Narcotics Control Bureau on the night of December 24 last year at a farm house in Bissar village in Mewat and at least 25 youths including foreign nationals were arrested.
 

Gurgaon Police is on high alert this time to track such suspicious activities generally organise in farm houses during.

"We have given special instructions to local intelligence officials to keep an eye on parties held in the farm houses in the district" said Hawa Singh, spokesperson of Gurgaon Police.

"The consumption of drugs along with booze can not be ruled out in operational night clubs and hence Gurgaon Police along with the Excise Department have constituted special 10 teams and 50 special teams of Gurgaon Police headed by ACP rank officials to raid at suspicious places including Delhi- Gurgaon and Faridabad bordering areas," he said.

Besides, regular deployments, we have put 200 traffic cops with breathalysers on different routes to check on drunken driving.

"We would book offenders and raid places on the informations given by them", said Balbir Singh, DCP traffic Gurgaon.

The district administration has already imposed section 144 in busy places and will barricade famous mall mile (MG road) having 25 night clubs, from both sides to prohibit vehicles to enter in the roads.

"All the pubs and bars including major restaurant and malls manager have been directed to videograph their entry point and inside premises with installation of better quality of CCTV cameras.

"The teams will be deployed with 50 PCR vans with women police personnel at Ambience mall, Sahara Mall and other places," he added.

Singh also added, this time bouncers were banned for the job of security at pub and bars, and only private security guards are allowed to be deployed for security and for private events in the city.

The strict rules of district administration could affect selling of liquors and reducing party goers.
