SPO decamps with rifle from J&K police station

A special police officer (SPO) today allegedly decamped with an AK-47 rifle from a police station in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, an official said.

SPO Showket Ahmed Shiekh, a resident of Harmain area in the district, decamped with an AK-47 rifle from the possession of Selection Grade Constable Mohammad Yaseen from the Sophian police station, the police official said.

He said police have registered a case and a search has been launched to recover the weapon and nab the SPO.
