Mohammed Khalil, an SPO with the state police, was indicted in the rape case and sent to four days police remand by Sub-Judge Vishesh Kumar Parihar after the forensic report confirmed the charges levelled against him, officials said.

The accused, however, managed to escape from the custody after he requested the police officers to allow him to sit outside the Surankote police station for a while to breathe some fresh air, they added.
