Two late goals in the injury time helped Sporting Clube de Goa beat Salgacoar 3-1 in their I-League match, played at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa here today.

Augustin Fernandes gave Salgaocar the lead in the 38th minute before Juan Francisco Gacia Pena restored parity for Sporting in the 61st minute.

But two late goals in the stoppage time by substitute Victorino Fernandes and Kalu Ogba saw Sporting collect full points. Sporting have 26 points from 20 matches, while Salgaocar remained on 20 points from 20 matches.

Both the teams fought evenly in the first half as play was confined to midfield for a better part of the first half.

Sporting Clube de Goa, who have not lost in their last four matches, made moves mostly from the right and had their first chance through Rogen Singh, but his weak shot was collected by Salgaocar's keeper Karanjit Singh.

Randeep Singh showed a lot of enterprise on the flank for Salgaocar, as he tried to feed his strikers with long crosses and Salgaocar finally tasted success in the 38th minute.

Randeep Singh's flag-kick saw the ball land at the feet of Augustin Fernandes inside the box, who took a shot which saw the ball take deflection off the body of Kalu before entering the back of the net.

A minutes later, Francis Fernandes had a glorious chance to increase the lead when he had all space and time on the left side of the box, but a Salgaocar midfielder sent his left-footer wide off the target with only keeper Bruno at his mercy.

After the change of ends, Gabriel Obatola had a clear chance to score in the 53rd minute after Josimar had done all the spade work, but the former shot wide from a handshaking distance.
