Sports develop ability to face adversity: Rajendra

He said that the sports have helped in a great way to channelise the energies of youth, besides keep them away from the vices of evils and crimes.

Rajendra was speaking at the closing ceremony of 3rd Police Martyr's Memorial North Zone Inter Club T-20 Cricket Championship 2012-13 at Kathua today.

True sportsmanship symbolises the virtues of courage and physical strength, teamwork and ability to face adversity with poise and dignity, so the qualities are expected to be an ingredient in the character of a policeman, said Rajendra.

The 20 day long tournament was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with Shaheed Welfare Committee Kathua and dedicated to the memory of policemen, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of the country and public service.

 

In all 28 teams from and outside the state participated in the tournament. Various distinguished cricketers of national fame also participated in the tournament.

Final match was played between Ludhiana District Cricket Association and Sandhu Cricket Club Ludhiana which was won by Sandhu Cricket Club Ludhana after defeating his rival by four wickets.

The ADGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has designed its Civic Action Programme with the objective to promote sports culture in the state and by this way various sports activities are carried out to polish the skills of sports personnel within and outside the Organisation.

The talented sports person are provided with free coaching and guidance to further their skills and excel at higher level, ADGP added.
