Sports Minister Jitendra Singh today congratulated Sachin Tendulkar for successfully completing his distinguished and inspiring career, saying his glorious 24-year-old career is a rare feat of exemplary elegance, earnest application and commitment.
"Sachin Tendulkar is one of the finest examples of sportsmen we have ever had with love for the sport, humility, integrity, honesty and pure unbridled talent," the Minister said in a statement.
"His sterling performance across all formats of the game, from Tests, ODIs and T20 over 24 years is a rare feat of exemplary elegance, earnest application and commitment," he added.

"Sachin Tendulkar's experience in the field of cricket would enthuse other sports disciplines. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports looks forward to working with him to utilise his expertise to promote excellence, good governance and ethics in all sports in the country," he said.
He also said "Tendulkar is a national hero whose achievements will be a source of inspiration to all sports lovers".
The Sports Minister expressed hope that Tendulkar's millions of fans will take forward the message of enjoyment, passion and a desire to excel for high standards of integrity in sports.
