'Sports should be integral part of school curriculum'

: Director General of Sports Authority of India Injeti Srinivas today stressed the need for sports to be made an integral part of school education and curriculum.

Speaking at a function here after inaugurating the renovated premises of the hostel for SAI trainees, he said sports had the power of being a tool for the development of youth and also their empowerment. He urged the Puducherry government to work with SAI with the common objective to put Puducherry on the sports map of the country.

Electricity and Education Minister T.Thiagarajan who also spoke, said the government was keen to promote sports and the requirements of SAI would be met as there was every need to spot talents of young sportsmen and nurture them.
 

G Kishore, Principal of LNCPE and Regional Director of SAI Tiruvananthapuram, who also spoke, said the SAI training centre here was one of the important centres having 107 trainees including 87 residential boy trainees.
