Cardamom prices were up 0.84 per cent to Rs 680 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions amid rising demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March gained Rs 5.70, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 680 per kg, in a business turnover of 187 lots.

The spice for delivery in April was up by Rs 4.40, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 714 per kg in 45 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators on the back of rise in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from growing regions, mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
