Cardamom prices were up 2.05 per cent to Rs 876 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh position amid rising domestic and export demand in the spot market and restricted supplies from producing regions.

Further, expectations of delayed harvest in the producing belts also fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July rose by Rs 17.60 or 2.05 per cent to Rs 876 per kg in a business turnover of 176 lots.

Similarly, spice for delivery in August gained Rs 7.60 or 0.85 per cent to Rs 893.80 per kg in 56 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures to uptick in domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market against tight stocks position on restricted arrivals from producing belts.
