Cardamom prices were up by 3.35 per cent at Rs 1,350 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions.

Besides, tight supplies from producing regions also added support to the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December zoomed by Rs 43.80 or 3.35 per cent to Rs 1,350 per kg with trading volume of 113 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January rose by Rs 40.10 or 3 per cent to Rs 1,378.40 per kg in 50 lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by participants, driven by surge in demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
