Supported by pick up in domestic demand against restricted supplies from producing belts, chana prices were up by 3.85% to Rs 4,232 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April rose Rs 157 or 3.85% to Rs 4,232 per quintal with an open interest of 27,630 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 155 or 3.75% to Rs 4,283 per quintal in 9,480 lots.

Analysts attributed rise in chana prices to pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts.
