Spot demand lifts guargum futures by Rs 27

Continuing its upward journey, guargum prices rose by another Rs 27 to Rs 6,244 per quintal in futures trading today as participants indulged in widening their bets amid a firm trend at the physical markets.

Marketmen said expanding of positions by participants, tracking a firm trend in the spot markets on strong demand against tight supplies mainly attributed persistent rise in guargum prices in futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guargum for delivery in January 2017 advanced by Rs 27, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 6,244 per quintal, having an open interest of 22,755 lots.

Also, the most-active delivery in February added Rs 26, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 6,310 per quintal, in an open interest of 24,295 lots.
