Amid pick up in domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing regions, mentha oil prices edged up by 0.44 per cent to Rs 878.70 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in month June rose by Rs 3.90 or 0.44 per cent to Rs 878.70 per kg in a business turnover of 118 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in current month contracts traded higher by Rs 3.30 or 0.37 per cent to Rs 876.30 per kg in 273 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market amid restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh led to the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
