Nickel prices went up by 0.51 per cent to Rs 676.60 per kg in futures market today after speculators strengthened their positions, driven by a firming trend at the domestic spot markets on pick-up in demand.

In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in current month spurted Rs 3.40, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 676.60 per kg, in a business turnover of 346 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February was trading higher by Rs 3.30, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 683 per kg in 14 lots.

Analysts said rising demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot markets, influenced nickel prices at futures trade.
