Refined soya oil prices edged up by 0.16 per cent to Rs 671.90 per 10 kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions after uptick in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in October rose by Rs 1.05, or 0.16 per cent to Rs 671.90 per 10 kg with an open interest of 50,050 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in September was trading marginally higher by 55 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 667 per 10 kg in 3,820 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants following pick-up in demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from growing regions, mainly led to the rise in refined soya oil prices at futures trade.
