Amid pick up in domestic demand against restricted supplies from producing regions, refined soya oil prices were up by 0.26 per cent to Rs 646.40 per 10 kg in futures market today as participants indulged in creating fresh positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in March edged up by Rs 1.65, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 646.40 per 10 kg with an open interest of 23,960 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in far-month April contracts traded higher by 55 paise, or 0.09 per cent to Rs 632.50 per 10 kg in 59,490 lots.

Analysts said building up of fresh positions by traders due to uptick in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts, mainly attributed the rise in refined soya oil prices at futures trade.
