Zinc prices were trading up by 0.42 per cent to Rs 181.05 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions amid uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in August edged higher by 75 paise, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 181.05 per kg in a business turnover of 828 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in July enquired higher by 65 paise, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 180.90 per kg in 5,818 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in zinc futures to a firm trend at spot market on pick-up in demand from consuming industries and covering-up of short positions by speculators.
