Spot demand lifts zinc futures by 0.48%

Extending gains for the second day, zinc prices rose further by 0.48 per cent to Rs 168.95 per kg in futures trading today as participants indulged in enlarging their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in November month traded higher by 80 paise, or 0.48 per cent to Rs 168.95 per kg in business turnover of 455 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in December contracts edged up by 75 paise, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 169.75 per kg in 26 lots.

Market analysts said widening of positions by traders amid pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market and a firm trend overseas mainly kept zinc prices up at futures trade.
