Spurious drugs: HC notice to J-K Govt, former health minister

Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notice to the state government and former Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma on a PIL filed by a doctors' body seeking probe into the supply of alleged spurious drugs to government hospitals in the Valley.

A Division Bench of Justices Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Ali Mohammad Magray issued the notice and also directed the Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch) to submit a status report on the investigations conducted into the supply of alleged spurious drugs to government hospitals.

The court listed the case for hearing tomorrow.

Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) had filed a PIL in the High Court seeking an independent probe into alleged fake drug scandal and action against those involved in facilitating the supply of substandard medicines.
 

They have also sought a compensation for the patients who suffered due to spurious drugs.
