The Consumer affairs and public distribution (CA&PD) ministry of Jammu and Kashmir has called for constituting a 'checking squad' to examine the quality, quantity and timely distribution of food grains in the state.
"CA&PD minister Zulfkar Ali has directed to constitute a squad comprising Deputy Director Enforcement, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology, two Assistant Directors, headed by Deputy Director CA&PD which will work out a comprehensive plan to check quality, quantity and timely disbursement of food grains and submit the report to him on daily basis," an official spokesman said yesterday.
The Minister also noted that best quality, full-scale, timely and transparent distribution of food grains to people was top priority of the government.

He ordered constitution of dedicated Public Grievance Cell for CA&PD in all districts.
"Transparency and accountability have to be made benchmarks in the public distribution system so that people get quality, timely and full scale food grains," Ali said while chairing a meeting on the monthly review of the department's functioning.
Director CA&PD, Deputy Director CA&PD, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology, Assistant Directors, Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs) of Jammu division, besides others were present at the meeting.
