Meanwhile, the family gave an advertisement with Kakkad's photo in newspapers on Friday.
At about 11 AM yesterday, they received a phone call from an Ulhasnagar-based man, who claimed to have seen a dead body resembling Kakkad.
"The man who gave us information claimed he received a photo of a dead body through a WhatsApp message on cell phone last Tuesday that was being circulated in various groups on the app. On finding similarities between picture of Kakkad in the newspaper advertisement and the dead body photo on WhatsApp, he alerted us," victim's son Umesh Kakkad said.
The body was found in Matheran ghats, which falls under Neral police station jurisdiction in Raigad district.
"The body was found on Monday evening. We circulated the body's photo to various police departments so that it can be identified. The family approached us yesterday and the body was handed over to them. We are probing if it is a case of murder," said R D Patil, an officer at Neral police station.
