Sr Salem Steel Plant official, two others get 3 yrs RI

A CBI court today sentenced a top official of Salem Steel Plant and two others to three years Rigorous Imprisonment in a graft case, which allegedly caused a loss of Rs 99.60 lakh to the plant.

The agency said senior manager (F&A) P G Anbanandam of the Central marketing office, accountant M K Natarajan and one D Sukumar entered into a conspiracy between April 2010 and March 2011 and made some unauthorised and fraudulent entries.

This caused a loss of Rs 99.60 lakh to the plant, CBI said in a release.

It said that after completion of investigation, a chargesheet was filed against the three persons under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
 

When the case came up today, CBI cases Special Judge M Gunasekaran sentenced the trio to three years Rigorous imprisonment.

They were also each slapped with a fine of Rs 8,000.
