Kenya has no intention of staying away from the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM) hosted in Colombo next month and assured that it will attend the meet, Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister said today.

"I have inquired from top levels in the Kenyan government and the assurance was that they will be coming," External Affairs Minister G L Peiris told parliament today in response to an opposition query.

The main opposition United National Party (UNP) lawmaker Ravi Karunanayake probed Peiris on a reported move by Nairobi to stay away from the Colombo summit.

The Kenyan government angered by the international crime court action against its President Juhuru Kenyatta reportedly called for a boycott by all African nations.

Canada has already announced its Prime Minister Stephen Harper would stay away from Colombo claiming that Sri Lanka was yet to show progress on its human rights accountability record.

The presence of the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is still in doubt.

Sri Lanka dubs threat of boycotts as action motivated by the pro-LTTE diaspora in the West.
