At least three Indian fishermen have been rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy off the northern coast, a top Naval official said today.

Naval spokesman Kosala Warnakulasuriya said the boat of the fishermen had broken down mid seas off northern Jaffna peninsula's Madagal area last night.

They were rescued by the Navy and were taken to Jaffna's Delft islet.

Early this month, President Mahinda Rajapaksa pardoned five Indian fishermen who were arrested for alleged heroin trafficking.
