Sri Lanka seizes 36 kg heroin trafficked from Pakistan

Sri Lankan customs has seized 36 kg heroin trafficked from Pakistan, authorities said today.

The drugs were found last night concealed in two boxes from a container cargo warehouse, customs spokesperson Leslie Gamini said.

He said they were yet to estimate the value of the drug.

Sri Lanka Anti Narcotics Association is concerned that the country is fast becoming a transit point for drug trafficking.

Many couriers from Pakistan and India were arrested in the recent times for trafficking drugs to Europe through Colombo and Male.
