Srikhand yatra begins

been made for the Srikhand yatra which began today in high mountainous region of Shimla and Kullu districts in Himachal Pradesh.

The first batch of 2000 devotees left the base camp at Jaon in Rampur area, 130-km from here, today.

Srikhand Mahadev is in fact a magnified "Shiv Linga" and the devotees offer worship at the mountain peak.

The yatra will continue till July 25.

The devotees believe that Lord Shiva meditated at 72-ft tall Shiv Lingam at Srikhand and the Pandavas too had trekked to the peak during their exile.
