Srinagar Book Fair to begin tomorrow

The summer capital will host the book fair for the next nine days at the Sri Pratap College ground here with more than 110 publishers and booksellers from various parts of the country participating, the organisers said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to inaugurate the fair tomorrow.

"We have been organising the book fair in all states, this time we have come to Kashmir," Director National of the Book Trust M A Sikandar told reporters here.

He said more than 170 stalls showcasing a wide range of books will be set up at the fair.

The organisers, which include the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language and Urdu Akadmi Jammu and Kashmir, said there would be a "range of literary and reading promotional events" during the fair.

 

The fair will also include a seminar on the works of famous Urdu short story writer Sadat Hassan Manto.
