All public places in the district have been "publicly and formally" declared smoke-free on the basis of an official report, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Srinagar) Nazim Khan said.
The report is based on a survey to assess the enforcement of a 2003 anti-tobacco law.
The survey was conducted by the District Evaluation and Statistical Office.
Khan asked all law enforcers of the Tobacco Control Act to ensure that no consumption or sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products should take place in any public place falling under their jurisdiction in the district.
In January this year, central Kashmir's Budgam became the first district in the state to be declared "smoke-free".
