The 300-km Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained closed for the third day today due to landslides at several places caused by rainfall over the past two days.

"The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains closed for vehicular movement due to fresh landslides at several places caused by heavy downpour," a traffic department official said here today.

The official said if there were no fresh landslides, the stranded vehicles were likely to be allowed to proceed to their destination by this evening.

There are over 2,000 vehicles, mostly carrying supplies for the Valley, stranded along the road which is the only all-weather road link between Kashmir and rest of the country.
