Shah Rukh Khan may or may not have been referring to American President Donald Trump, but in a TED address -- the first by an Indian actor -- he has called for bringing down walls.
"You may use your power to build walls and keep people outside, or you may use it to break barriers and welcome them in," he said in what was largely a philosophical address to the audience here.
In his 17 minutes-long speech, he shared thoughts on love, fame and humanity.
"I've learned from the people of my country that the dignity of a life, a human being, a culture, a religion, a country actually resides in its ability for grace and compassion," he said in a conference at TED Talks.
"I've learned that whatever moves you, whatever urges you to create, to build, whatever keeps you from failing, whatever helps you survive, is perhaps the oldest and the simplest emotion known to mankind, and that is love."
Love, he stressed, was more than enough "to enlighten" mankind.
"So, I truly believe the future 'you' has to be a you that loves."
The 51-year-old actor said it was up to the people to chalk out their own paths.
"You may filthy up the oceans callously and cut down all the forests. You can destroy the ecology, or turn to them with love and regenerate life from the waters and trees."
TED is devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short and powerful talks on various subjects like education, business, science, tech and creativity.
