The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has arrested two persons and seized charas and ganja worth around Rs 2 crore from their possession from near the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar's West Champaran district, officials said on Monday.
Acting on a tip off, SSB personnel arrested two smugglers and seized 9.4 kg of charas worth Rs 1.88 crore and 37 kg of ganja worth Rs 7 lakh from their possession while they were crossing into Indian territory from Nepal side Sunday, SSB's 47th battalion Commandant, Priyavrat Sharma said.
The SSB team arrested smugglers with charas and ganja from near Purrainia village under the jurisdiction of Sikta police station of the district, he said.
The smugglers have been identified as Kapil Mukhiya, a resident of West Champaran district and Balmiki Mahto, a resident of Parsa district in Nepal, the Commandant said.
The SSB has handed over the arrested smugglers and the seized contraband substance to Narcotics Bureau, Patna for further action, he added.
