SSCB boys and J'khand girls win team events sub-jr Nat Archery

Services Sport Control Board (SSCB) boys and Jharkhand girls emerged champion in the team event of the Indian round of 35th Sub-Junior National Archery Championship (Indian, Recurve and Compound) for Boys and Girls, which commenced at JRD Tata sports complex here today.

In the boys' team event, the SSCB team comprised of archers Shubham Vaidwan, Shivam Vaidwan, Y Abhinash Singh and Vans Panwar, who scored 236 against host Jharkhand's total 233 points to finish at the top.

The Jharkhand team represented by Vishal Kumar, Gora Ho, Mahesh Baraik and Mangal Hansda secured second place, while Steel Plant Sports Board (SPSB), represented by Pintu Kumar Rana, Manish Choudhury, Akhlesh Yadav and Shambhu Nath Parida, won the bronze with 226 points.
 

In the girls' team event, Jharkhand's Soni Kumari, Anita Kumari, Indrani Kujur and Mini Kumari Tudu had a close contest against SPSB's Jano Purty, Monika Kumari, Nazia Parween and Nirmala Mahato before emerging victorious by 222-221 points.

The Manipur girls comprising of W Malesowri Devi, L Tomthinganbi, H Surjalata Devi and N Sarika Devi scored 209 points to bag the third place.

In the 30 metre distance for boys, SSCB's Y Abhinash Kumar scored 350 points to bag the first place against Jharkhand's Gora Ho, who scored 349 points followed by Manish Choudhury of SPSB with 348 points.

Similarly, in the girls' 30 meters event, Jharkhand's Anita Kumari defeated teammate Soni Kumari 338-337.

Organized by Tata Steel in association with Steel Plant Sports Board (SPSB) and Archery Association of India (AAI), around 400 players were taking part in the championship.
