A Special Sub Inspector today attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison in the city, reportedly due to over mental stress, police said.
Jayashankar (45) attached to Rathinapuri police station and part of the morning parade team at Nehru Stadium, suddenly fell unconscious. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors found he had consumed poison, in a bid to end his life.
A note in his pocket said none was responsible for this attempt, which was the result of mental stress and ailments. It also said that nobody should be questioned in this regard and whatever money he receivs should be handed over to his wife.
