A special sub-inspector of Dhanushkodi station today died and four others were injured when their car rammed into a wall of a culvert bridge near here.
Police said SSI Muniasamy (50) was crushed to death on the spot. Among the injured were his wife and son.
The SSI was returning from Madurai after making some purchases.
